Assignments and Areas of Focus
After establishment in 1997(The Norwegian Centre for Dementia Research), the Centre was given the mission by the Ministry of health and Welfare to work within the following four areas of focus:

1. Research and development projects for the improvement of care and treatment for people with dementia and their next of kin

2. Councelling and Guidance for municipal and specialist health services in connection with trials of new models for treatment and care of people with dementia

3. Providing education of affected target groups

4. Developing teaching materials

Today, these areas of concentration remain the goal of all units of the centre.
